Sing ye my comrades! sing ye all!
Sing now my wedding song. Sing ye the song of His praise. May I be a sacrifice to Him—the Beloved. The blessed day hath dawned, The hour of consummation draweth nigh. Come ye, my comrades, come! And consecrate me with your blessings. Behold ye the Bride uniting with the Bridegroom. - Nanak Translated by Kirpal Singh Ek Onkar
There is One Reality, the Unmanifest-Manifested; Sat Naam Ever-Existent, He is Naam, (Conscious Spirit), Karta Purakh Nirbhau Nirvair The Creator; pervading all; Without fear; without enmity; Akaal Moorat Ajooni Saebhang The Timeless; the Unborn and the Self-existent: Complete within Itself. Gur Parsad JAP Through the favor of His true Servant, the Guru, He may be realised. Aad sach jugad sach He was when there was nothing; He was before all ages began; Hai bhi sach Nanak hosi bhi sach He existeth now, O Nanak, And shall exist forevermore. - Nanak Translated by Kirpal Singh |
Nanak
1469-1539 Guru Nanak was a mystic saint born in 1469 in what is now present-day Nankana Sahib, Punjab, Pakistan. At an early age, it became very apparent that he was an extraordinary child, a deep contemplative thinker. Growing up, he refused to take part in traditional religious rituals and often spoke out against the caste system, idolatry, and the disrespect and subjugation of women. Guru Nanak traveled extensively teaching that there is one God that constitutes the eternal Truth and dwells in everyone and in all of creation. Guru Nanak created a unique spiritual, social, and political framework based on equality, goodness, virtue, and universal love. Guru Nanak’s poetic hymns are found in the holy text of the Sikhs: the Guru Granth Sahib, the Japji Sahib, the Asa di Var, and the Sidh Gosht. Books:
