Hafiz
1320-1390 Hafiz was a mystic Persian poet born around 1320 in Shiraz, Iran. His poetic themes include divine love and spirituality. At the age of 60, out of longing to reunite with his Creator, Hafiz began a 40-day spiritual vigil sitting in a circle he had drawn. The 40th day of the vigil was the 40th anniversary of meeting his Master, Attar. He went to Attar that day and attained God-realization. Hafiz’s poetry is regarded as a pinnacle of Persian literature and is frequently used in traditional Persian music, art, and calligraphy. Books:
